Corporate Counsel - Manage Litigation Portfolio for Amazon
Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced litigator to join their legal department as a Corporate Counsel. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portion of Amazon's commercial litigation portfolio, including product, auto, general, medical, and workers' compensation liability cases. You will work closely with other lawyers, business clients, and cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for handling these disputes. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement litigation strategies for product, auto, general, medical, and workers' compensation liability cases - Manage and coordinate outside counsel and coordinating counsel structures - Work cross-functionally with Risk Management department to ensure optimal management of individual cases - Advise Amazon leadership on legal and business risks and opportunities - Prepare for trial by working with Amazon witnesses and data repositories - Coordinate with Amazon's public policy and public relations teams on litigation matters - Design and implement processes to enable small teams to make high velocity decisions at scale - Provide daily cross-functional leadership to Amazon stakeholders on legal issues
Qualifications:
- 5 years of legal experience - Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills - Sound and practical business judgment combined with strong common sense - Experience litigating, managing, and coordinating product, auto, general, medical, or workers’ compensation liability cases - Experience working cross functionally with Risk Management personnel, third party administrators, and insurance companies - Ability to lead teams and work collaboratively with others - Curiosity and creativity - Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity
Salary Information:
- Base pay ranges from $138,500/year to $229,000/year, depending on geographic location and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience - Additional forms of compensation, including equity and sign-on payments, may be provided as part of a total compensation package - Full range of medical, financial, and other benefits available
