Job Summary:
BDO is seeking a Tax Associate for their Core Tax Services team. This role will utilize your educational background, communication skills, and organizational abilities to assist with tax returns and research. The Tax Associate will work with basic research skills and tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review.
Job Duties:
- Tax Compliance: Ensuring clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens. This includes utilizing Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency and documenting all significant tax positions. - ASC 740-10 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) Tax Accruals: Applying Firm policies and standards regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48 and assisting with preparation and/or review of income tax provisions. - Tax Consulting: Developing efficient and effective methods to decrease clients' current and future taxes by utilizing knowledge of tax structures and filing requirements and drafting clear and concise memorandums and correspondence. - Other duties as required.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics required, or Bachelor's degree in another focus area with CPA certification. - Master's in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exams and progress towards admission to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction. - Progress towards Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA) certification preferred.
Software:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite preferred.
Other Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team setting. - Proactive in seeking advice and compliance with policies. - Ability to prepare simple tax returns.
