Code enforcement paralegals play a crucial role in investigating and prosecuting property owners and businesses who have violated building, housing, planning, health or other city and state codes. They work closely with attorneys and other professionals to ensure that public health and safety are protected.
We are looking for candidates with excellent communication and writing skills, knowledge of legal procedures, and the ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and agencies. If you are passionate about the law and making a positive impact, we want to hear from you!
Responsibilities:
- Work with attorneys and investigators to manage cases and projects - Communicate with city department staff and other parties involved in investigations - Assist in preparing pleadings and other legal documents - Review and organize documents obtained from litigants and city departments - Prepare materials for investigations, depositions, and trial - Assist with other projects and duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or significant work experience - Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university - Minimum 5 years of litigation or transactional experience as a billable paralegal/legal assistant
Desired Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of legal procedures and terminology - Familiarity with state and municipal codes - Strong organizational skills - Ability to manage a high volume of cases - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite - Experience with regulatory agencies or criminal law enforcement - Knowledge of discovery rules and processes - Familiarity with iTimeKeep, CMS Aderant, Trial Director, or Adobe Professional
Salary Information:
The pay scale for this position ranges from $87K – $98K plus annual bonuses. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s quality and amount of experience. We also offer annual discretionary bonuses, competitive health insurance benefits, and a 401(k) with a partial match.
