Job Title: Claims Examiner/Associate Claims Examiner - Employment Practices Salary: Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications Experience: 2 years for Associate Claims Examiner, 7 years for Claims Examiner Location: Wayne, PA Team: Claims Job Type: Full Time FT/PT Status: Full Time
Essential Functions:
- Confirm coverage by reviewing first notice of loss and policy information - Prepare coverage position letters (disclaimers, reservation of rights) - Conduct thorough investigation of claims to assess liability and damages - Understand and apply statutory and case law - Identify joint tortfeasors and ensure fair payment from all parties - Maintain adequate reserves throughout claim development - Proactively manage files towards final disposition - Negotiate directly with claimants or their attorneys - Oversee defense counsel and ensure effective litigation management - Review and approve settlement agreements - Maintain detailed file notes - Prepare reports for underwriting and other departments - Respond promptly to phone and email inquiries, both internally and externally - Adhere to established claim service promises - Participate in continuing education to maintain state licenses and support professional development - Occasional travel required for mediations or court hearings
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support customer service by responding promptly to inquiries - Complete special projects as assigned
Specific Skills:
- Understanding of legal concepts, litigation processes, and agency filings - Strong oral and written communication skills - Analytical and negotiation skills - Organizational and time management skills - Technical knowledge of insurance coverage, employment law, and claim evaluation
Minimum Job Requirements:
- 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner - 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner - Experience in liability matters, such as examiner, adjuster, paralegal, attorney/lawyer - Knowledge of employment practices, D&O, and/or E&O claims - Multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, and/or JD are a plus
