Roles and Responsibilities: - The Claims Attorney's main responsibility is to represent LWCC and/or its policyholders in legal proceedings. - This includes routine litigation before trial courts, appellate courts, and administrative tribunals statewide. - The attorney will also prepare legal documents, conduct legal research, and advise claims department personnel and policyholders of litigation plans and developments. - Other duties may be assigned by the Managing Attorney.
Desired Skills and Experience: - The ideal candidate will have a strong character and align with our company values. - They should be trustworthy, honest, decisive, curious, and persistent. - A passion for innovation and willingness to learn and collaborate is essential. - Strong communication skills and a commitment to accountability are also important. - Candidates must possess a license to practice law in the State of Louisiana. - Zero to two years of legal experience is preferred, but consideration may be given to those who have clerked for LWCC while attending law school. - Areas of concentration will involve learning entry-level State Workers' Compensation litigation and Subrogation litigation. - Movement between attorney levels is based on corporate and departmental need, performance, and budgetary considerations. - Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer literacy are required. - Significant in-state travel is expected.
