Summary: The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an experienced Child Support Officer III to join their Child Support Division (CSD). This position involves conducting detailed investigations, establishing paternity, obtaining court orders for financial support and health care coverage, enforcing child support orders, and collaborating with state agencies and community organizations to serve Texas families. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related fields, along with one year of full-time experience in the Child Support Program, credit collections, investigations, legal assistant, legal secretary, customer service, or IV-A eligibility specialist. H2: Responsibilities and Duties • Conduct detailed investigations to locate absent parents, verify employment, and determine assets • Establish paternity for children born out-of-wedlock • Obtain court orders for financial support and health care coverage for children • Enforce child support orders and negotiate lump sum payments • Monitor child support cases and refer delinquent cases for enforcement • Document all case actions and maintain accurate virtual files • Review cases for closure and attend court as needed • Research case information and maintain knowledge of child support policies and procedures • Explain program policies and regulations to customers and respond to inquiries and complaints • Serve as a Notary Public and perform related duties as assigned
H2: Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related fields • One year of full-time experience in related fields • Knowledge of investigative practices and techniques • Strong interviewing and negotiating skills • Proficient in using a personal computer for word-processing and data entry • Basic mathematical skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Sound judgment and effective decision-making abilities • Ability to receive and respond positively to feedback and work collaboratively with others • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a professional office environment • Must be able to work in person at assigned OAG location, arrange for personal transportation, and lift up to 30 lbs. • Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and travel up to 15% of the time • Must be able to type 35 words per minute (typing test required at time of interview) • Fluency in Spanish preferred
