H1: CCLS Affirmative Litigation Staff Attorney - High-Quality Legal Services H2: Join Our Team and Make an Impact
- Full-time position with potential for part-time for experienced litigators - Salary range of $77,746.50 to $115,537.50, commensurate with experience - Opportunity to work with a diverse team and make a positive impact in the community - Represent low-income individuals in Merced, Tuolumne, Mariposa, Fresno, Tulare, and Kings Counties - Provide high-quality, no-cost civil legal services to those in need - Handle cases from inception to resolution, with primary responsibility for written discovery, depositions, and law and motion work - Trial experience preferred but not required - Passionate advocate for access to justice and providing exceptional representation to disenfranchised individuals and communities - Collaborative and supportive work environment with a focus on professional growth and development - Opportunity to work on impactful litigation that addresses legal barriers for those living in poverty - Maintain a significant litigation case load, both as lead attorney and part of a team - Negotiate favorable settlements and implement strategic settlement strategies when necessary - Develop and maintain relationships with client groups and community-based service providers - Identify and analyze systemic issues through positive connections with other legal teams and community organizations - Participate in weekly case review meetings and adhere to CCLS policies and procedures - Member in good standing of the State Bar of California - Strong legal writing, research, editing, and analytical skills - Ability to expand knowledge in new practice areas and work collaboratively with other legal teams - Experience working with low-income clients preferred - Bilingual abilities in Hmong/English or Spanish/English desirable - Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging - Ability to travel as needed and have liability and property insurance on personal vehicle
