Job Title: Attorney, Public Law Experience: 3 years of experience in Public Law preferred Location: Bainbridge, NY Salary: $97,500 to $120,000 per year
Responsibilities: - Provide legal advice and interpretation on municipal law, education law, SEQR, code enforcement, land use, and zoning - Represent municipal clients at board meetings, including town, village, city, fire district, and school district meetings - Draft and review local laws, resolutions, policies and procedures, and contracts - Defend municipal clients in litigation and claims, including research and drafting legal documents - Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, leases, bid documents, easements, indemnification agreements, and other legal documents - Prosecute code enforcement cases, including building code, zoning code, and dangerous dog cases
Skills: - Strong diplomatic, fairness, firmness, and judgement skills - Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and promptly respond to client needs - Excellent writing and verbal communication skills - Strong research and analytical skills - Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with clients and colleagues - Commitment to the legal profession and a collaborative teamwork approach
Qualifications: - Admitted to the New York Bar - Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school - 3 years of experience in Public Law preferred - Desire to continue developing legal skills and knowledge
