The Center for Immigrant and Refugee Advancement (CIRA) is a nonprofit organization that empowers immigrants and refugees through legal representation, resettlement, and social work. They are seeking an Associate Legal Director to provide leadership and shape the future of their immigration legal services. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of immigration law, and a commitment to professional growth.
Responsibilities: - Lead strategic planning for legal services, aligning with CIRA's mission and long-term vision - Collaborate with the Executive Director and other departments to integrate legal services into the agency's overall strategy - Analyze trends and community needs to enhance program effectiveness and maximize impact - Set goals for the legal department and manage the budget and resource allocation - Ensure accountability and performance of legal team members - Supervise and mentor team members, providing support for their professional growth - Collaborate with the Director of Development and Data Analytics Team for grant reporting and funding efforts - Work with the Director of Communications to responsibly share client and staff stories - Manage legal department staffing and provide training for staff - Represent noncitizen clients in legal proceedings - Engage in advocacy and policy efforts to address key issues impacting noncitizens and immigration legal services - Build and maintain partnerships with other agencies and organizations
Qualifications: - Licensed attorney able to practice law in Nebraska - At least 5 years of immigration law practice experience - Experience in an immigrant-serving nonprofit organization preferred - At least 3 years of leadership experience, successfully supervising a team of at least two individuals - Spanish language ability preferred - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities - Ability to collaborate within a team-oriented environment - Dedication to CIRA's mission and values - Authorized to work in the United States
Working Conditions: - Regular desk work and computer use - Occasional travel within Nebraska - Monday-Friday schedule with occasional evening and weekend work required
Compensation: - Base salary of $100,000-$115,000, commensurate with experience - Excellent benefits, including unlimited paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and retirement plan contributions
