Job Overview: - This position is for an Associate Law Librarian & Adjunct Professor of Law at a reputed firm, Marquette University. - The selected candidate will have the opportunity to teach law school courses, participate in the management of law library operations and personnel, and provide instruction and specialized research services to various groups. - The Associate Law Librarian will report to the Director of the Law Library and will also have supervisory responsibilities. - The position also involves participating in various committees and professional development activities.
Responsibilities: - Teaching advanced legal research courses in the fall and spring semesters, and occasionally in the summer session. - Providing leadership and coordination of law library access services, including overseeing circulation policies and procedures and supervising circulation desk personnel. - Participating in the weekly reference schedule and offering research support to faculty and research assistants. - Collaborating on collection development and related policies. - Developing and updating instructional materials and resources. - Serving on law library, law school, and university committees. - Participating in the life of the Law School and in professional development activities.
Requirements: - J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and an M.L.I.S. (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited library school. - At least 3 years of experience teaching legal research in an academic setting and 5 years of experience as a law librarian or practicing attorney. - Flexibility and ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Strong service orientation and ability to work with a diverse patron population. - Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working in a legal practice setting. - Experience with library circulation duties and integrated library management systems. - Supervisory experience or experience leading teams.
