Compensation and benefits eligibility are based on employment status, union, and bargaining unit agreements (for hourly employees), and state and federal laws. The expected compensation for this role is $188,000-$396,000 annually, including cash and stock awards, as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
The Role
The Associate General Counsel, Compliance will play a crucial role in ensuring Tesla’s compliance with local laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures. This position, reporting to the Director of Global Compliance, requires an individual with exceptional agility, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and excellent judgment. The successful candidate will also possess strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to build influence with business leaders across the globe. This full-time position can be based in Austin, Texas, Palo Alto, California, or Washington, DC.
Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct regular assessments of compliance risk across Tesla’s lines of business and geographies Develop and maintain compliance policies and procedures Deliver compliance training and communications plans Conduct internal investigations, as needed, and develop remediation plans based on findings Manage third-party compliance risks Act as a trusted advisor to business and functional leaders on regulatory and compliance issues
Qualifications
Admission to a US state bar 15 years of relevant legal experience, including 5 years in a corporate compliance program Familiarity with compliance investigations, codes and policies, training and communications, risk assessments and mitigation, and third-party risk management Thorough understanding of legal frameworks relevant to corporate compliance programs, such as the FCPA and international anti-corruption laws Ability to use data to drive compliance initiatives Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, challenging environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence business leaders globally
