Job Description:
- Seeking an Associate Counsel to join Conterra Ag Capital's Legal Department - Responsible for documenting, closing, and servicing commercial agriculture loans - Works closely with a team of attorneys, closers, and servicers - Supports legal and compliance activities for Conterra and its subsidiaries/affiliates - Knowledge of ag real estate and/or commercial lending preferred - Assists in the oversight and review of title commitments on real estate loans - Prepares and reviews loan documents and documents related to servicing actions - Researches and provides opinions on legal issues related to lending and real estate transactions - Manages and completes post-close loan documentation and title-work
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists Senior Counsel in the oversight and review of title commitments on real estate loans - Works with closers, underwriting staff, borrowers, field servicers, title insurance officers, and legal counsel to obtain and ensure clean title - Prepares and reviews loan documents on real estate loans - Prepares and reviews documents related to servicing actions on real estate loans - Researches and provides opinions on legal issues related to federal and state lending, licensing, and secured real estate transactions - Assists in the management and completion of post-close loan documentation and title-work
Experience/Qualifications:
- Law degree from accredited university and current license to practice law - 2-4 years' experience in a law firm or other legal setting, with 1-3 years' practice in areas of real estate and/or lending - Excellent research, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills - Knowledge of and proficiency with MS Office programs - Ability to work independently and collaboratively as the situation dictates - Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, be detail oriented, and manage deadlines
