Job Description: As an Associate Counsel at GEICO, you will have the opportunity to defend lawsuits filed in Louisiana courts and handle first party insurance defense. This position is for GEICO Staff Counsel located in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Responsibilities:
- Research and analyze laws to prepare legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda - Provide opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department - Prepare and handle pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions and examinations before trial - Defend matters assigned at trial or dispositive hearing
Qualifications:
- 2-6 years of related experience in litigation, insurance defense, and/or personal injury - Juris Doctor degree required - Admission to the Louisiana Bar required - Must be licensed in good standing to practice law in Louisiana and meet all licensing requirements - Must be able to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, and meetings - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong organization and multitasking abilities
