Law Firm Seeking Associate Attorney for Supreme Court, Appellate & Complex Litigation Role
Gupta Wessler LLP, a unique and highly regarded law firm specializing in Supreme Court, appellate, and complex litigation, is seeking a talented and passionate associate attorney to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of issues, including consumers’ and workers’ rights, class actions, access to the courts, civil rights, and constitutional and administrative law. The firm also runs the Supreme Court Litigation Clinic at Harvard Law School, adding to the prestige and impact of their work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as an appellate advocate for trial lawyers nationwide, representing plaintiffs and public interest clients - Conduct rigorous legal research and analysis to develop creative legal strategies - Draft high-quality briefs, motions, and other legal documents - Collaborate with a small, collegial team to provide exceptional client service - Engage in oral advocacy, including presenting oral arguments before the Supreme Court - Contribute to shaping the law in ways that enhance justice and improve people’s lives
Requirements:
- A strong academic record and demonstrated exceptional writing and editing skills - At least one year of practice experience (not including clerkships) - Judicial clerkship experience strongly preferred - Strong advocacy instincts and a passion for public interest work - Ability to think critically and creatively about complex legal issues - Collaborative spirit and ability to work well in a small team environment - Admission to the bar in at least one state, or eligibility for prompt admission via bar exam or motion - Location can be in Washington, DC or San Francisco
Compensation:
- Competitive salary range of $135,000 to $160,000 or more, depending on experience - Annual lump-sum bonuses - Generous benefits package including health, dental, vision, and life insurance, as well as a retirement plan - Opportunities for professional development and growth within the firm
