Job Description:
The Senior Associate Attorney at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** will be responsible for providing excellent legal work to clients and representing the firm's compassionate, responsive, and professional brand at all times. The role will involve extensive case-related research, negotiating with opposing counsel, managing and mentoring junior associates, drafting legal documents, maintaining client relationships, and representing clients in court proceedings.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct extensive research into relevant laws to support arguments and theories of cases - Negotiate with opposing counsel on behalf of clients - Manage and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and law clerks - Draft pleadings, correspondence, and agreements - Maintain client relationships by communicating often and explaining complex legal proceedings and concepts - Communicate effectively and professionally with opposing counsel and court - Keep office apprised of case status and deadlines, and organize files - Manage multiple cases simultaneously, serving as second chair on larger matters - Represent clients at court hearings, mediation, conferences, and depositions - Assist with trial proceedings, organizing evidence, exhibits, and scheduling witnesses - Attend CLEs, bar association events, and networking functions - Prepare blog posts and assist in writing and researching articles - Perform all other legal-related tasks as requested
Qualifications:
- JD from accredited law school - Admission to the Maryland Bar - Admission to the District of Columbia Bar a plus, otherwise eligible for admission - Demonstrated commitment to local bar associations a plus - Genuine interest in helping people and problem-solving with empathy and patience - Ability to adapt to different client styles and needs - Sound judgment, integrity, trustworthiness, and ability to maintain confidentiality - Attention to detail and ability to submit accurate and error-free work - Willingness to ask questions and collaborate to find solutions - Interest in advancing knowledge of family law through new challenges and attending CLEs - Ability to step outside comfort zone and take on new challenges, particularly in litigation - Proven ability to write clearly and persuasively - Good at working in a team environment and taking constructive criticism well - Interest in promoting the firm within personal and virtual networks, including on social media
