EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Entry level to three years of experience in general liability defense litigation Licensed to practice in West Virginia courts, additional state admissions is a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Attorney will handle a caseload involving substantial litigation defense, with a focus on construction defect and premises liability. Responsibilities include:
- Drafting pleadings, motions, orders, and legal memoranda - Responding to written discovery and dispositive motions - Conducting legal research - Preparing and taking depositions - Reviewing client documents and drafting case evaluations - Handling matters from inception to trial - Assisting with mediations and court appearances - Interacting with clients, claim professionals, opposing counsel, colleagues, and staff
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Strong legal research and analytical skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Attention to detail and strong organization and prioritization skills - Knowledge of state and federal court procedures - Proficiency with MS Office and internet navigation
