Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an experienced associate attorney to join our team in Southfield, MI. This is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking to further develop their litigation skills while handling complex cases with autonomy. In this role, you will also have the support and mentorship of experienced partners in our collaborative and collegial environment.
Responsibilities: - Focus on transportation and trucking matters, as well as general insurance defense cases such as premises liability, personal injury, property damage, and fire loss - Handle entire case files with autonomy - Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents - Investigate facts and engage with experts - Attend hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials - Work within a team structure when needed
Requirements: - Current, active license to practice law in Michigan - Minimum of 2 years' experience in civil litigation, including drafting pleadings, motion practice, written discovery, and depositions - Strong analytical skills for complex legal and factual issues - Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills - Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines - Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - Proven ability to produce top quality work - Willingness to take ownership of projects and assignments - Experience in federal court and alternative dispute resolution preferred, but not required
