Job Title: Associate Attorney - Toxic Tort / Product Liability Location: St. Louis, MO (can be in-office, hybrid, or fully remote) Salary: DOE (Dependent on Experience) Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Introduction: Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney for its toxic tort / product liability practice group in our St. Louis office. This is a great opportunity for attorneys looking to enhance their litigation skills while being part of a collaborative team and receiving mentorship from experienced partners. The position offers various work arrangements, including in-office, hybrid, or fully remote (within reasonable distance of St. Louis).
Key Responsibilities: - Manage an assigned case load and take responsibility for day-to-day case management - Work closely with supervising partner to handle all aspects of a file from inception through resolution/trial - Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, and other related litigation documents - Conduct legal research and analyze complex legal issues - Take and defend depositions - Report to clients and/or insurance carriers - Handle mediations/arbitrations (experience desirable) - Multitask and manage multiple deadlines
Requirements: - Current, active license to practice law in Missouri (Dual licensure with additional states desirable - IL, IN, TN, WV) - Minimum of 2 years' experience in civil litigation, preferably with prior asbestos experience - Excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills - Strong interpersonal and presentation skills - Proven ability to analyze complex legal issues and produce top-quality work - Ability to take ownership of projects and assignments - Willingness to be proactive and handle files independently
