Associate, Insurance Coverage - Law Firm (Maryland Bar Admission Required) Salary Range: $160,000 - $185,000 annually
About the Law Firm We are a boutique law firm specializing in insurance coverage matters and complex disputes. Our team works with domestic and international insurance carriers, providing them with expert advice and representation in a range of issues.
The Opportunity We are currently seeking a highly motivated associate with 2-5 years of litigation experience to join our expanding insurance coverage team. While prior experience in insurance coverage law is a plus, we are open to training strong litigators with a keen interest in this field.
Job Responsibilities • Analyze insurance policies and draft clear, well-supported coverage opinions • Represent insurers in litigation, including dispositive motion practice, discovery, depositions, and hearings • Draft pleadings, motions, and client communications • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to clients • Contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and external client development efforts • Work collaboratively with team members in a supportive and professional environment
Qualifications • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school • Licensed and in good standing in Maryland (additional bar admissions a plus) • 2-5 years of litigation experience, with a strong preference for insurance coverage experience • Excellent legal analysis and writing skills, with a commitment to continuous learning • Strong research and analytical abilities • Exceptional organizational and time management skills • Interest in developing expertise in insurance law and becoming a trusted advisor to insurer clients
Bonus Points If You Have • Experience evaluating claims or litigating on behalf of insurance carriers • Familiarity with CGL, excess, or professional liability policies • Proactive mindset and interest in mentoring or team-building • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-stakes work
