Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking an Assistant Supervising Attorney to join their dynamic team in Minneapolis. This role offers a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration, with a half-day of paid flex time on Fridays. Responsibilities:
Apply MMLA's Racial Justice Values Statement in all interactions Provide guidance and support to Community Clinic attorneys in family law matters Supervise casework in family law Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court appearances Host internal and public-facing trainings Manage a full caseload Conduct outreach to form new community partnerships Cultivate understanding of clients' backgrounds and cultures Provide coverage at clinic sites as needed Collaborate with legal team to support overall goals
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
In-depth understanding of family law Familiarity with local and state regulations and procedures Strong litigation, negotiation, and mediation skills Excellent organizational and analytical abilities Ability to handle emotionally charged situations with empathy Strong leadership skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Other Qualifications:
Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Minnesota attorney Some leadership experience Work, volunteer, or lived experience with diverse communities
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in social, economic, and racial justice Experience working with victims of violence or individuals with mental health concerns Fluency in a second language
Compensation:
$88,727 to $104,839 per year, plus benefits Benefits include medical and dental insurance, disability and life insurance, retirement plan with employer match, and generous paid time off Employees qualify for benefits on the first day of employment
