Responsibilities: - Provide legal representation for indigent clients in criminal, civil commitment, and other specified cases. - Prepare and work with legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs. - Meet hard deadlines for caseload and manage time effectively. - Interact professionally with diverse groups, including office staff, clients, and courts. - Advocate for effective and fair criminal justice system. - Treat clients with dignity and compassion.
Qualifications: - Graduated from or soon to graduate from an accredited law school. - Licensed to practice law in the State of Wisconsin prior to start date. - Experience in providing legal representation, preparing legal documents, and managing time effectively. - Ability to interact professionally with diverse groups. - Fluency in a foreign language is a plus.
Salary Information: - Starting salary between $36.72 to $60.00 per hour ($76,377.60 to $124,800 annually) depending on qualifications, plus great benefits. - Positions are unclassified and in pay schedule/range 21-75. - Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan. - Eligible for moving expense reimbursement to relocate to the place of employment.
