JOB OVERVIEW **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** College-Conservatory of Music, a comprehensive college for the performing and media arts, seeks a teacher/performing artist for a full-time tenure-track faculty appointment in cello, to begin August 15, 2022. Salary will be commensurate with credentials within college guidelines. CCM's String Department is a highly collaborative, multidimensional area of the Performance Studies Division offering the BM, MM, AD and DMA degree programs. During CCM's illustrious 150-year history, its string faculty has included Dorothy DeLay, Lynn Harrell, Zara Nelsova, Eugène Ysaÿe, and the LaSalle Quartet. Its graduates are currently teaching at major conservatories and performing in major orchestras worldwide from Berlin to Beijing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The successful candidate will serve as an integral member of the String Department as Assistant Professor of Cello in Residence. Responsibilities include teaching cello courses on all collegiate levels (BM, MM, AD, and DMA), teaching studio-related courses as needed, and recruiting and maintaining a high-quality studio. Additional duties will include advising doctoral documents and projects, lecture-recitals, and coaching chamber music. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the discipline through engagement in significant professional activities including maintaining regional, national, and international visibility in solo/chamber music/orchestral performance, masterclasses, services to the college/university/community through committee membership, academic advising, and mentoring students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Prior to the effective date of the appointment, the successful candidate must have either:
*A Master's Degree in Music in addition to a total of two years of experience. Such experience must encompass two years of professional performance experience as well as two academic years of professional teaching experience, which can, but need not, be contemporaneous to the professional performance experience. *Or a Bachelor's Degree in Music in addition to a total of seven years of experience. Such experience must encompass five years of progressive post-baccalaureate work experience in cello (such as instructing clinics/masterclasses/workshops, coaching, publishing scholarly or pedagogical works, recording projects, or touring) as well as two years of professional performance experience and two academic years of professional teaching experience, which can, but need not, be contemporaneous to the professional performance experience.
