The District Attorney's Office is currently seeking an Assistant District Attorney for Penobscot County, with occasional coverage in Piscataquis County. This is an entry-level position, offering a competitive salary and benefits package based on qualifications.
As an Assistant District Attorney, you will primarily be responsible for the criminal prosecution of adults in the Unified Criminal Docket. This role requires a strong desire for a career in litigation, with excellent writing skills being essential. Preference will be given to candidates with trial experience and developed trial skills. High ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organizational and time management skills are essential for this position. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required, as this position may require travel to courts in Dover-Foxcroft, Lincoln, and Millinocket. The successful candidate must also be able to work independently.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate for this position should have a strong desire for a career in litigation, with high ethical standards, sound judgment, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and good organizational and time management skills. Candidates must also be members of the Maine Bar and in good standing. Salary and benefits will be as established by the wage scale.
