The Bearcats have a proud athletics history, winning eight national championships and 117 conference titles. The Cincinnati men's basketball team is among the 15 winningest programs all-time, while the football team became the first American Athletic Conference program to compete in the College Football Playoff in 2021.

JOB OVERVIEW The successful candidate will be expected to provide information to external and internal public via news and other media to positively influence the perceptions and narratives of the sports assigned to them in support of advancing the goals and objectives of the department and athletic programs and while following University of Cincinnati and departmental policies, NCAA Division I, and Conference bylaws and regulations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS *Serve as the primary communications contact for multiple sports. *Proactively pursue new, creative and innovative methods for enhancing the programs' brand and media presence, including continued awareness of trends in visual communications, emerging media, earned media, social media and digital technologies. This is including, but not limited to, creating feature stories, hype videos, highlights and graphic design that tell the Bearcats story across the department with a focus on assigned sports. *Responsible for creating editorial content for online and social media platforms, specifically gobearcats.com, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other platforms for assigned sports, including but not limited to media guides, news releases, game notes, feature stories, videos and graphics. *Contribute, plan and execute public relations initiatives for assigned sports and department as a whole. This includes facilitating program interview and media requests with local, regional, national and niche media and social media influencers along with developing feature coverage for internal digital platforms. *Direct game coverage for assigned sports and assist in game and practice coverage for additional and secondary sports. *Supervising statistical crews and managing live scoring for home events for assigned sports. *Nominate student-athletes and coaches for conference and national awards. *Maintenance of current and historical team information (news, rosters, statistics, records, photos, videos) in assigned sports. REQUIRED EDUCATION *Bachelor's Degree must be in English, mass communications or related field. *Five (5) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE One (1) year of experience in professional writing/editing/broadcasting/public relations.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS CONSIDERED *Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite, social media execution, Statcrew and NCAA Live Stats. *Experience mentoring and leading student interns. *Self-motivated and proactive and ready to work as part of a small team. *The ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure. *Good interpersonal, organizational and planning skills. *Attention to detail. *A willingness to work outside normal business hours and travel with teams. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT *Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
