Overview: The **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant City Solicitor to join their team in handling criminal cases. This position offers an excellent salary range and the opportunity to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate and at least two years of criminal and litigation experience. This is a full-time position with a Monday through Friday schedule, 8:00AM - 5:00PM.
Responsibilities:
- Resolve criminal charges through trials, pleas, recommendations for community programs, and dismissals where appropriate - Work independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings - Conduct jury trials and plead cases in court - Research case law and argue before superior courts - Write briefs, memos, and motions to further prosecution in Rock Hill Municipal Court and appeals in York County Common Pleas, SC Court of Appeals, and SC Supreme Court - Work with victims and witnesses to prepare for trials and determine case resolutions - Negotiate case resolutions with defendants and defense attorneys - Attend Pro Se Day and Public Defender Day conferences to discuss resolution options - Review files, gather evidence, and attend bench court to advise officers and present case resolutions - Dispose of cases efficiently in accordance with strategic goals - Perform other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs
Requirements:
- Law Degree and admission to practice law in South Carolina - Two years of criminal and litigation experience or closely related experience - Knowledge of criminal law and procedure, particularly in South Carolina and the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** - Ability to use technology effectively - Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills - Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines - Positive and customer-focused attitude - Must be able to work onsite during regular business hours
