Assistant Attorney General - Revenue Litigation Bureau

This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of cases and represent the interests of the State in litigation involving debt collection and tax enforcement. We are looking for a candidate with a strong commitment to public service and a passion for the practice areas of collection work, creditors in bankruptcy, and tort litigation.
The Revenue Litigation Bureau is responsible for representing the State in cases involving the collection of debts owed to State agencies. This includes property damage and personal injury matters, as well as fines, penalties, and contractual liabilities. The Bureau also represents the Department of Revenue in the civil enforcement of taxes and handles everything from small collection and bankruptcy cases to major litigation with large corporate taxpayers. Additionally, the Bureau handles administrative reviews for the Department of Revenue, Employment Security, and the Property Tax Appeal Board.
Responsibilities: - Represent the State in litigation involving debt collection and tax enforcement - Handle cases involving property damage, personal injury, fines, penalties, and contractual liabilities - Represent the Department of Revenue in civil enforcement of taxes - Handle administrative reviews for various state agencies
Qualifications: - At least two years of experience in one or more of the following areas: representing creditors in bankruptcy, tort litigation, collection work, Illinois business income tax or sales and excise tax practice, or Illinois estate tax - Licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application
Salary: - Salaries start at $81,000 and are commensurate with years of practice as a licensed attorney
