The Assistant Attorney General position within the General Law Bureau of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for experienced attorneys looking to make a difference in the legal system. As part of the Government Representation Division, the General Law Bureau is responsible for defending the State of Illinois, its officers, agencies, and employees in civil trial litigation. This includes a wide range of cases, from personal injury and property damage to class actions and civil rights cases. As an Assistant Attorney General, you will play a crucial role in representing the interests of the state and its people, while also gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced and dynamic legal environment.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Defend cases brought against State of Illinois agencies, employees, and officers. - Respond to complaints and draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents. - Manage written and electronic discovery, conduct depositions, and represent clients in administrative hearings and court proceedings. - Handle a large caseload and travel as needed.
Qualifications:
- Excellent research and writing skills. - Ability to handle a large caseload and work independently. - Sound judgment and a commitment to upholding the law. - Must be licensed by the State of Illinois at the time of application.
Salary Information:
- Salaries start at $81,000 and are commensurate with years of practice as a licensed attorney.
