The Child Support Enforcement Division of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Attorney General to join our team in the Rock Island office. This position offers the opportunity to handle a variety of child support enforcement cases and other litigation in multiple counties in northern Illinois.
About the Organization: The Child Support Enforcement Division represents the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Department of Human Services. Our attorneys handle a wide range of cases, including child support enforcement, personal injury lien recoveries, estate liens and claims, excess assistance recoveries, administrative review actions, bankruptcy cases, and other miscellaneous matters.
Job Responsibilities: • Represent the Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Department of Human Services in court proceedings • Handle a high volume of cases, including conducting formal evidentiary hearings when settlement is not reached • Prepare pleadings and responses to motions • Research legal issues and provide sound legal advice • Maintain good working relationships with court officials, agency staff, and families in need of child support enforcement services
Qualifications: • Demonstrated interest in and enthusiasm for trial work • Experience handling a high volume of cases • Excellent litigation and negotiation skills • Superior interpersonal skills • Ability to travel as needed
Salary: Salaries start at $81,000 and are commensurate with years of practice.
