The Office of the Attorney General in the Department of Law is seeking a highly motivated and skilled attorney to join our team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Labor and Employment Section. This position offers a rewarding career in providing legal representation of the highest quality to state government agencies, officers, and employees, and upholding the constitutional and statutory responsibilities of the Attorney General.
The primary duties of this position include defending state agencies, public colleges and universities, and state officers/employees in employment discrimination lawsuits, providing general representation to assigned clients, and conducting legal research. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to appear in state and federal courts, argue motions and appeals, and attend continuing legal education seminars. Travel may be required for this position, but teleworking is also available.
To be considered for this position, external applicants must submit a current resume, cover letter, Department of Law Employment Application, two writing samples, and official undergraduate and law school transcripts. The preferred candidate will be a member of the Georgia Bar in good standing and have at least one year of general litigation experience. We will also consider applicants who reside outside of metro-Atlanta and are interested in working a hybrid schedule.
Employment is contingent upon completion and satisfactory results of a criminal background check. The salary for this position is commensurate with experience, and the position is open until filled.
