Job Description
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a highly motivated and mission-driven individual to join our team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Child Support Division. As an AAG, you will represent the State of Texas in judicial and administrative family law proceedings, with a focus on promoting responsible parenting and ensuring that children receive the support they need and deserve. This is a full-time position with a standard work week of 40 hours and a monthly salary range of $7,196.87 - $9,000.00.

Responsibilities: • Represent the State of Texas in legal proceedings related to child support and medical support • Provide legal advice, consultation, and technical assistance to the Child Support Program • Develop and deliver training on relevant legal topics • Conduct investigations and perform legal research • Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations • Comply with agency policies and procedures, including those related to ethics and integrity
Qualifications: • Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree • One year of full-time legal experience as a licensed attorney in the field of family law • Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas • Knowledge of Family Law and the Texas Family Code • Strong legal writing, mediation, and negotiation skills • Proficiency in using a personal computer for word-processing and data entry/retrieval • Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Sound judgment and effective decision-making abilities • Willingness to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment • Commitment to providing excellent customer service • Availability to work in person at assigned OAG work location and travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred Qualifications: • Two years’ experience in handling Family Law cases • Jury trial experience • Experience in a high-volume legal practice • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish
