Overview:
The Office of the Attorney General in Richmond, Virginia is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Assistant Attorney General, Health Services. This is a full-time, salaried position with a competitive salary based on experience.
Job Duties:
- Serve as counsel and provide representation and advice to the Department of Health Professions and its Boards of Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, and Optometry. - Represent the Health Practitioners’ Monitoring Program. - Attend board meetings and serve as board counsel during disciplinary proceedings. - Handle all aspects of litigation, including defending board decisions on appeal in state and federal court. - Provide daily legal advice on a variety of health law issues. - Provide back-up to attorneys representing other Boards within the Department of Health Professions.
Requirements:
- Must be a member of the Virginia Bar. - Excellent analytical, research, and writing ability. - Superior oral and written communication and litigation skills. - At least five years of litigation experience, including appellate practice. - Experience representing state or local government preferred.
