The organization AARP is seeking an Advocacy & Litigation Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation in civil litigation and legal proceedings. The position offers a competitive salary of $108,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year, and is based in Washington, DC. The attorney will support the organization's advocacy initiatives and provide guidance on lobbying compliance, campaign finance, and government ethics. The role also includes assisting with internal investigations, policy compliance, and litigation support. As a member of the legal team, the attorney will collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to drive AARP initiatives and provide timely and accurate legal advice to clients.

Overview:
AARP, the nation's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering people 50 and older, is seeking an Advocacy & Litigation Attorney to join their legal team in Washington, DC. The attorney will provide legal counsel and representation for internal clients in civil litigation and various legal proceedings. Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice, guidance, and assistance to clients in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. - Develop and utilize expertise in advocacy compliance to drive the organization's advocacy initiatives. - Conduct internal investigations related to litigation and non-litigation matters. - Monitor compliance with internal and external policy requirements. - Collaborate with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders to drive AARP initiatives. - Participate in cross-organizational working groups to develop innovative approaches to enhance service delivery for clients.
Qualifications:
- JD with a minimum of 1 year of experience in legal research or litigation support. - Knowledge and/or experience interpreting complex statutes and providing practical advice to non-attorney stakeholders and clients. - Experience conducting document reviews and responding to subpoenas. - Strong interpersonal and legal writing skills. - Admitted to practice in good standing in a state Bar, with the ability to practice as an in-house attorney in the District of Columbia.

Hybrid Work Environment:
AARP observes remote workdays on Mondays and Fridays, with the exception of essential functions. Remote work is limited to the United States and its territories.
