Job Title: Associate Counsel Organization: Department of Revenue Department: Legal Location: Nashville, TN Salary: $100,896.00 - $161,004.00 annually
Overview: - The Department of Revenue is responsible for administering and collecting taxes and fees for the state of Tennessee, as well as local and municipal governments. - This position will provide legal advice and representation to the Department, ensuring that state tax and other laws are administered correctly and fairly.
Responsibilities: - Provide legal advice and support to various divisions within the Department on state tax and other issues. - Represent the Department in informal taxpayer conferences and administrative contested cases. - Provide litigation support in lawsuits against the Commissioner, the Department, or Department employees.
Qualifications: - Active license to practice law in Tennessee or pending admission to the Tennessee bar. - Preference given to candidates with intermediate level coursework in tax law and/or experience in state or federal tax law, government, or finance. - Strong research and writing skills required.
