Law Clerk - Paid Summer Program at Immigration Law Firm - 9-Week Program with Rotations and Learning Opportunities
Introduction: Join our full-service immigration law firm for a paid 9-week summer program as a Law Clerk. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience in all areas of immigration law, including removal defense, family petitions and waivers, business immigration, and federal litigation. Our program consists of 3 rotations, allowing you to gain exposure to each of our main practice areas.
Law Clerk Responsibilities: As a Law Clerk, you will work with multiple attorneys on one of our teams (defensive, affirmative, litigation, employment) and assist with a variety of tasks, including: - Drafting affidavits, briefs, and motions - Communicating with clients - Conducting legal research
Rotation Opportunities: Our law clerks rotate between 3 of our teams to gain experience and exposure to different areas of immigration law. These rotations include: - Defensive: Focuses on applications for relief from removal in court, including asylum, cancellation of removal, adjustment of status, and court-based waivers. Clients may be detained or non-detained. - Affirmative: Focuses on applications submitted with USCIS or DOS, such as family/marriage-based petitions, asylum, adjustment of status, waivers of inadmissibility, consular processing, and naturalization. - Litigation: Focuses on appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals, U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal, and District Court litigation, including writs of mandamus and habeas corpus.
Learning Opportunities: In addition to hands-on experience, our summer program also includes group skills sessions with individual attorneys to learn about specific topics within immigration law, lunch sessions, and social gatherings. These opportunities allow you to gain a deeper understanding of the legal field and network with professionals in the industry.
