- **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***, a national organization, is seeking Spring 2025 Legal Interns in the following program areas: Housing & Environmental Justice and Voting Rights - Internship duration: Late January to late April/early May - Work hours: 8-25 hours per week with hybrid in-office/remote work policy - Training and education on legal skills in civil rights issues will be provided - Interns will work with attorneys in various program areas on litigation, legal and policy advocacy, legal services, legal research and writing, community outreach and education, and/or client intakes - Position is unpaid, but some interns secure independent funding - Academic credit can be arranged - Applicants must be law students - Bilingual ability in Bangla, Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese), Gujarati, Hindi, Khmer, Korean, Urdu, or Vietnamese is a plus, but not required - Interested applicants should email a cover letter, resume, and writing sample as a single PDF document to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** with preferred program area(s) and number of hours available per week specified in the cover letter - Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and only applicants with interviews will be notified of their advancement in the application process - Contact **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** for more information
H2: Program Areas and Responsibilities
H3: Housing & Environmental Justice - Research state and federal laws for imminent challenges to large-scale developments that risk displacing Asian American residents - Topics may include Constitutional, civil rights, environmental, and administrative law - Support with community outreach, administrative advocacy, FOIA requests, and other litigation preparation needs
H3: Voting Rights - Assist with litigation efforts combating voter suppression measures and discriminatory redistricting under state election laws and the federal Voting Rights Act - Collaborate with local partner organizations to improve language access at the polls for Asian voters - Prepare for local elections in New York City in 2025
