Job Description
JOB SUMMARY As the Tableau Administrator your role will be to maintain the performance and upkeep of Carilion's Tableau servers. The role will help create and manage sites, folders, groups, workbook's and other items to optimize the accessibility and use of the Tableau servers. The role will also serve as the developer and coordinator of complex API interactions with the server to refresh data, push notifications, and perform other tasks needed on both an adhoc and scheduled basis. Responsible for performing advanced installations, upgrades, testing, maintenance, and customization of Tableau application. The applicant should have the following skills:
SKILLS NEEDED INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
*Strong understanding of Tableau Architecture and cloud platform, preferably AWS. *Experience creating tickets and independently managing the vendor for issues arising from software. *Experience with TSM, Tabcmd, and Tabadmin. *Write and run Python/PowerShell/Bash scripts for automation, maintenance activities, especially for Tableau Server. *Develop and document standards/best practices/governance for the administration of the Tableau platform. *Licensing key management for Tableau Server & Desktop. *Experience with performance tuning of tableau servers and workbooks. *Create/Manage Sites, Folders, Sub-folders, Groups, Workbooks and Projects, Database Views, Data Sources, and Data Connections *Proactively identify processes that would benefit from system automation to improve analytics team effectiveness and increase operating efficiencies *Work closely with architects, cloud engineers to ensure optimal functioning of the application. *Proactively communicate with the Customer/Stakeholders to resolve issues and get work done. *Good knowledge of Tableau PostgreSQL tables to monitor server activity/usage statistics to identify possible performance issues/enhancements and potential threats. *Expertise in Tableau platform sizing, troubleshooting, tuning & disaster recovery. *Experience with utilizing scripting languages to leverage Tableau APIs( JavaScript, Data Extract API, REST API) *Good knowledge and experience with change management processes. *Good to know BI development and ETL life cycle processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, or health care systems or equivalent work experience. Experience:
Minimum fifteen years' experience in IT and business/industry work experience including architecture design and deployment, systems lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations.
Extensive expertise in Oracle/MySQL database, as well as data modeling, both logical and physical, as well as in multidimensional data modeling, such as star schemas, snowflakes, normalized and de-normalized models, handling "slow-c hanging" dimensions/attributes. Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration:
Valid Virginia drivers' license and dependable transportation.
TOGAF 9 Certified
In addition, a minimum of three of the following certifications are required:
Epic Caboodle ETL Certified Administrator
IBM Certified Solutions Developer - Datastage (v11.3 or after)
IBM Certified Specialist: PureData System for Analytics
Other Minimum Qualifications:Good organizational skills, analytical, dependable, detail oriented, interpersonal skills, and understanding of the English language (both written and oral). Must have thorough understanding of the 7-layer OSI model. Must have working experience and understanding of Enterprise Architecture best practices frameworks and standards. Must have working knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture, business re-engineering principles and processes and basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting. Experience with SQL, VB.Net, Asp.Net, XML, HTML, HL7, PACS, application servers/ portal servers, clinical monitoring systems, drug distribution systems preferred. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be customer service oriented.
