Job Description

This role requires at least 4 days onsite per week.

Responsible for ensuring quality and cost-effective Litigation Management. Litigation Management supports claims examiners and claim leadership and works with external claims vendors. This position entails selection, appointment, evaluation, and oversight of our panel of competent vendors for all jurisdictions. The Litigation Management Team coordinates feedback from claims examiners and claims leadership and helps to develop, monitor and train relative to internal processes, initiatives and procedures to ensure that examiners and counsel jointly strategize to effect sound claim resolutions.

Essential Functions:

Manage Defense Counsel Panel Database: Primarily responsible for updating internal Claim systems.
Coordination of Internal and External meetings: Assist with scheduling of and attendance at vendor panel, Underwriting and Loss Control meetings.
Data Review and Entry: Manage and update litigation management document spreadsheets.
Screen New Claims Vendors: Assist Team members with locating potential vendors as suitable business partners for vendor panel. Attend screening visits of potential vendors via in-person and virtual visits.
Evaluation of Claims Vendors: Assess compliance with USLI protocols; Research and evaluate vendor panel rate increases.
Continuing Education and Legal Training Coordinator: Coordinate 12 hours of adjuster continuing education per year which is approved by Florida Insurance Department. Organize other relevant legal training seminars for claims, underwriting, and customer attendance.
College Student Leader – Oversee and train college students on the Litigation Management Team.
Special Projects: Complete Special Projects assigned by Litigation Management Team Leader and/or Litigation Management Team Captain.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

Resource: Assists underwriting and claims in researching jurisdictional and legal trends via communication with counsel.
Continuing Education: Enroll and complete continuing education programs for both professional and personal development as outlined in annual Training and Development Plan.
Working Conditions: Travel as needed to accompany Team members at mediations, oral arguments, trials, office visits, and conferences including overnight stays for development purposes.
Specific Skills: Strong oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and conflict management skills, strong analytical skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of Webex, Power Point, and Excel.

Requisite Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

Experience: College degree OR equivalent business/industry experience. 1-4 years of litigation management or claims handling experience. JD is a plus.
