Overview:

The Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office (BCSAO) is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to fill the position of Assistant State’s Attorney in the Major Investigations Unit (MIU). This non-supervisory role is integral to the office’s efforts in reducing violent crime through criminal intelligence, community outreach, and law enforcement partnerships. The selected candidate will work closely with local, state, and federal agencies in targeting and prosecuting violent crime generators.

Key Responsibilities:

- Attend regular criminal intelligence and violent crime drivers-targeting meetings
- Conduct investigations and develop criminal intelligence on identified violent crime targets
- Track target cases and report on office-wide case data
- Work with community members to identify crime trends
- Collaborate with community liaisons to obtain and disseminate intelligence information to assist communities
- Work with Baltimore Community Intelligence Centers (BCIC) - real-time crime response centers - located at Baltimore Police Department districts
- Represent the State at all points of investigation and trial progress through the court system

Requirements:

- Juris Doctor degree and license to practice law in the State of Maryland
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, as well as Judicial Dialog and Google Earth
- Familiarity with ArcGIS is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
- Excellent communication skills, especially when engaging with BPD command staff, federal partners, and other agencies and organizations

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position starts at $77,191 and is commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, local government public service position that may qualify for Federal Student Aid Public Service Loan Forgiveness. The selected candidate will also receive a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, vision and dental insurance, deferred compensation option, life insurance, 10 paid holidays per year, and various types of leave. Newly hired candidates will also be enrolled in the City of Baltimore Employee Retirement Pension System. A criminal background check is required before starting employment.
