Salary: $235,000-$365,000 per year (depending on location and experience)

Experience: 2-3 years in construction law, with a focus on transactional and litigation support in various industry sectors

Education: JD and admission to the bar in relevant jurisdiction

Job Summary:

As a Construction Associate at DLA Piper, you will provide transactional and litigation support on all aspects of construction and development work, including drafting and negotiation of design, construction and development agreements in various industry sectors. You will also have the opportunity to work on large infrastructure and energy projects, providing strategic advice to clients regarding claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delay, and construction defect claims. This role also involves assisting with construction adversarial matters, such as arbitration and litigation.

Key Responsibilities:

- Draft and negotiate design, construction, and development agreements in various industry sectors
- Provide strategic advice to clients regarding claims management, change orders, extra work claims, delay, and construction defect claims
- Work with construction teams on litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting pleadings, discovery, motions, and taking depositions
- Familiarity with industry form agreements (AIA and similar forms) is required
- Prior experience with litigation or arbitration matters is preferred but not required

Qualifications:

- JD and admission to the bar in relevant jurisdiction
- Minimum 2 years of experience in construction law
- Familiarity with industry form agreements (AIA and similar forms)
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Attention to detail and good business judgment
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently
- Prior experience in a large or mid-sized law firm is preferred
