Are you an analytical and creative problem solver with a strong desire to persuade and negotiate? Do you have experience handling general liability/casualty/excess matters? If so, USLI is looking for a Claims Examiner or Associate Claims Examiner to join our team in Wayne, PA.
As part of our claims team, you will have the opportunity to work on unique and challenging claims, collaborating with underwriting, compliance, and actuarial teams to ensure the health of our products. Essential Functions: - Analyze coverage, liability, and damage evaluation through review of first notice of loss, policy language, and investigation. - Prepare initial position letters and maintain reserves based on liability and damage evaluation. - Manage claims through effective diary, direction to defense counsel, and analysis leading to settlement or trial. - Communicate with policyholders, underwriting, and actuarial teams through comprehensive and concise authority requests, reinsurance reports, and coverage position letters.
Other Duties and Responsibilities: - Support customer service by responding promptly to phone and email inquiries. - Complete special projects as assigned. - Enroll in continuing education to maintain state licenses and support professional and personal development. - Travel as needed for mediations and court hearings.
Specific Skills: - Strong communication, analytical, negotiation, organizational, and time management skills. - Technical knowledge of insurance coverage, negligence law, and claim evaluation.
Minimum Job Requirements: - 2 years of relevant experience for Associate Claims Examiner. - 7 years of relevant experience for Claims Examiner. - Experience in general liability/casualty/excess matters, with prior experience as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, or other transferable roles. - Excess liability experience, multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, and/or JD are a plus.
