Experience Information:
- 2 years (Associate Claims Examiner) or 7 years (Claim Examiner) of relevant experience handling general liability/casualty/excess matters - Prior experience as an examiner, adjuster, paralegal, or other relevant role - Personal lines experience, multi-jurisdictional knowledge, advanced degrees, and/or JD are a plus
Essential Functions:
- Review first notice of loss and interpret policy language to confirm coverage - Conduct thorough investigations of claims, including securing facts, statements, and documents - Identify joint tortfeasors and witnesses, and conduct scene investigations - Post, review, and maintain reserves based on liability and damage evaluation - Proactively manage files towards final disposition through effective diary management, direction to defense counsel and adjusters, and analysis and strategy for settlement or trial - Maintain comprehensive and concise file documentation, including claim notes - Communicate regularly with underwriting and actuary through authority requests, reinsurance reports, and coverage position letters
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to phone and email inquiries - Complete special projects as assigned - Participate in continuing education to maintain state licenses and support professional and personal development - Travel as needed for mediations and court hearings
