**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is seeking law student interns for the Fall 2017 semester. The interns will assist the organization in pursuing international supply chain transparency, exploring innovative civil litigation ideas, and developing new strategies for human rights and environmental accountability across the globe.

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***:

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** challenges corporate impunity head on, through research, collaboration, and experimentation with new or under-utilized legal mechanisms. We provide victims of overseas human rights abuses access to U.S. courts, deter human rights abuses, and incentivize self-policing and supply chain transparency within corporations.

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** is hosted in the offices of the 8th Day Center for Justice in downtown Chicago.

Responsibilities:

This internship is part-time . Interns are asked to commit to a minimum of 10-15 hours per week for a minimum of three months. Although the timing is flexible, the student will ideally begin in mid September 2017 and intern through December 2017 .

Interns will be given assignments related to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***’s research areas and will be expected to conduct legal and factual research and to produce memos in a timely manner. Interns will be oriented to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***’s research methods and expectations, and will receive assistance in legal writing and the development of writing samples. Each intern will be assigned to work under and be mentored by one of CAL’s co-founders. Research topics for Fall 2017 will include using consumer protection statutes to push for more transparent and clean supply chains, using the International Trade Commission to exclude slave and child labor produced goods from the U.S. market, and expanding the common law duty of care to extend to workers making products for U.S. consumers across the globe. Interns may be asked to draft a blog post or assist in research for academic papers. Students will also be given opportunities to explore pressing global human rights issues through local events and direct engagement with advocates in the field. Internships are unpaid , but **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW*** will support the intern’s efforts to obtain outside funding or academic credit through their universities and other sources if needed. Students should check with their individual academic institutions for requirements.

Qualifications:

Applicants should be:

Organized, self-motivated, and reliable with a strong interest in human rights, international supply chains or corporate accountability.

Applicants should have:

Strong writing skills

Fluency in oral and written English

Experience with relevant coursework is desirable

Familiarity with and access to legal research databases is required

Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, internet applications)
