How to Answer 6 Weird Interview Questions

Interviews can be full of tricky questions meant to stump you, so prepare ahead of time on how to answer these commonly used but still weird questions. Letting the questions make you falter will make you much less likely to make a good impression during the interview. Handling these questions with ease will make you stand out and appear completely on top of things.
  1. If you were an animal, what would you be?
This question is looking to find out your characteristics without straight-out asking. Adapt your answer to fit the type of job you are applying for. For example, sales jobs need an animal that is focused and calm but ready to strike like an eagle.
  1. What do you think of Garden Gnomes?
This question is a good way for the interview to see how you will fit with the company. The question is supposed to be humorous and should elicit an equally humorous answer. Try to tailor it to the job role you are applying to.
  1. Why are manhole covers round?
Someone truly creative will be able to bounce back from this question easily. Just answering “I don’t know” won’t get you anywhere. The interviewer wants to hear a creative response that will entertain them and be memorable.
  1. Name five uses for a stapler without staples.
An interviewer is bound to get a lot of the same answers with this question, so try to think outside the box and be original.
  1. How many times in one day do a clock’s hands overlap?
The answer is 22 – you’re welcome. What the interviewer is really trying to find out is how good you are at working through problems. You don’t have to give the answer, but instead show that you are willing to try and not give up at the first bump in the road.
  1. If we shrunk you to the size of a pencil and put you in a blender, how would you get out?
While this question is insanely random, it forces you to think on your feet. If you appear flustered by an out-of-the-ordinary problem, then the interviewer will worry about how will handle difficult situations in real life. Answer the question calmly and quickly.
