Celebrate the Little Things to Stay Motivated

Getting into a daily 9-to-5 routine can wear us down, usually when we don’t even realize it. Taking the time to celebrate everything you do right is important, even when the celebration is something as simple as taking a moment to text your happy news to a friend. Here are examples of things you need to congratulate yourself for.
  • Getting an intern: Being assigned an intern or mentee means you have officially made it to the career world. Being able to help someone else navigate the business world that you have recently worked your way through is rewarding and a big accomplishment.
  • Congratulatory email: When you receive an email from someone at work saying “Good job,” don’t just pass it off with a quick “Thanks.” Take a moment to think about the hard work you put in and return to the email whenever you have a bad day.
  • Win an office contest: No matter what the contest was for – fantasy football league or best homemade chili – take pride in the win. Don’t go around gloating, but be excited because the point of contests is to boost morale.
  • Your boss trusts you to represent the company: Whenever you are sent to represent the company at a luncheon, business trip, or networking event, understand that you are a valuable part of the team now. Celebrate a little bigger for this accomplishment with a fancy dinner out.
  • Crossing something big off your to-do list: To-do lists seem to grow and grow, but when you are able to knock something big off, be excited and motivated to keep the momentum going.
  • Pleasing a difficult client: There is always someone that is hard to please, whether it is co-workers, clients or even your boss. Being able to find a way to make that person happy is a big deal, especially if no one else has been able to.
  • Make your first work friend: The first day of work is like the first day of school. Being able to finally connect with someone enough to have a lunch pal makes for a great day.
