Working for Yum Brands

By   |  Dated: 10-04-2010

Yum! Brands began as Tricon Global Restaurants in 1997 when Pepsi decided to spin off its fast food chain business. Tricon started off with the three Pepsi owned fast food chains: Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell.

In 2002, Tricon merged with Yorkshire Global Restaurants, adding the Long John Silver's and A&W Restaurant franchises. The company adopted the name Yum! Brands following the merger. Today the company is the largest fast food company by number of units with over 36,000 stores in over 110 countries. Once the fastest growing fast food company in the United States, its domestic growth has slowed due to market saturation and today Yum! is focused on expansion overseas while continuing to maintain a strong presence in America.

Because of its origins as a spinoff from Pepsi, Yum! franchises have lifelong contracts with Pepsi for soft drink supplies. A&W stores have separate contracts with the Snapple Group to provide A&W root beer and some franchises, most notably those on various college campuses, have contracts with Coca-Cola that override the Pepsi contracts, but in cases where those are limited in duration, Pepsi will take over when the contract expires.

Over 330,000 people work for Yum! globally. The company is proactive in hiring people in marketing, finance, human resources and food innovation, but obviously there are jobs available from entry level fast food employees all the way through the gamut of corporate and administrative positions. Fortune Magazine has included it in its lists of top companies for women and top companies for minorities. Yum! is one of many major corporations that has embraced the idea of same sex partner benefits and employees enjoy a large benefit package including health and dental, 401k plans, stock options and a charitable gift matching plan.

Today on Hound, there are 66 jobs listed from Yum! Brands ranging from human resources to maintenance technician to high finance. Hound doesn't charge employers to list open positions which means that we can bring you every open job listing a company has to offer. Other job sites like Monster.com charge employers stiff fees for each listing, which might explain why there are only five listings for Yum! Brands currently on Monster. Whatever type of job you're looking for, there are sure to be more listings on Hound than any other job site. Try Hound today for free and find the career you've been looking for!
