ConocoPhillips is a vertically integrated oil company. In addition to owning drilling rights around the world, ConocoPhillips owns a fleet of oil tankers, 19 refineries, and distribution units under several names. Their most familiar name brand in America is Union 76, but the company also has filling stations under the name Phillips 66 and Conoco. In Europe, the company has a distribution unit for jet fuel in several countries.
The company has a spotty environmental record. ConocoPhillips is listed as the 13th worst producer of air pollution in the United States by the Political Economy Research Institute. However, in 2007 ConocoPhillips joined the US Climate Action Partnership, the first American oil company to do so. The organization recommended mandatory emissions caps to then President George W Bush. The same year, ConocoPhillips spent $150 Million on developing alternative sources of energy, but that's only a tiny fraction of the company's $246 Billion in revenues.
ConocoPhillips employs nearly 34,000 people worldwide. Currently on Hound, there are 53 listings for positions with ConocoPhillips, ranging from engineering to crewmen on oil tankers.
