Pasadena, CA — The unemployment rate in Oregon was 10.5 percent in June 2010, which was around the same since June 2009, when it was 11.6 percent. The data is from the Oregon Employment Department.
The upside was that the tech sector payrolls had a slight increase of around 200 jobs, bringing the total to 52,500 jobs in hardware manufacturing, software and computer systems design, according to state data. In another sector, the construction industry has lost 11 percent of its workforce in the last 12 months. The state also has the third highest rate of foreclosure in the country, which has risen by 20 percent.
With Congress showing no signs of extending the unemployment benefits for the long term unemployed, the job situation is looking a lot bleaker for most unemployed people in Oregon as local news reports show. Although there are not a lot of jobs in Oregon in the current economic scenario, Hound CEO, A. Harrison Barnes, says his site has been able to compile over 6,000 jobs. Most of the jobs were spread out throughout the state with around 2,000 jobs in Albany.
