AutoZone's origins can be traced back to the opening of Auto Shack in Arkansas in 1979. In 1987, the company took on its current name, AutoZone and also presented WITT-JR, the industry's first electronic catalog. In 1996, the company acquired ALLDATA, a software company that offers information on automotive and diagnostic repair. It also launched its company website.

In the following years, the company acquired almost 800 stores from auto parts retailers and opened its first non-US store in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. It also joined forces with CarMax to build stores inside seven of CarMax's 45 locations. Through an agreement with Midas, AutoZone also began distributing products to all US Midas locations.




Today AutoZone boasts more than 3,600 stores in the US alone, with additional stores in Puerto Rico and Mexico. This position will also develop market analysis, establish plans for commercial accounts, and work to both develop and maintain customer satisfaction and loyalty. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of experience in sales, as well as management experience. Communication and negotiation skills are necessary and automotive industry experience is desired. This position is located in Houston, Texas.
