Other services include product assembly, device programming, computer system configuration and integration, and technical seminars. Avnet's history began, when Charles Avnet started selling surplus radio parts on the East Coast docks. By the mid-1920's Avnet was selling parts to dealers and manufacturers. Through the years, the company and its services continued to expand. Avnet was incorporated in 1955 and went public as Avnet Electronics Corporation in 1959.
