Hound is a very good resource for finding jobs directly from employer career pages. All other sites that I used were filled with jobs from recruiters. Hound showed me jobs from employer career pages only. I have already recommended Hound to all my friends.

What is Hound?
Hound shows its members jobs from every employer website it can find in the United States and throughout the world. It is the most powerful job-search engine in existence and powers several job boards. Recruiters use Hound to track down potential jobs for their clients.

Why use Hound?
Most jobs are posted on employer websites and not commercial job boards. Jobs on employer websites typically are not advertised—this means jobs on employer websites typically receive hardly any applications because people do not know about them. Hound allows its members to be the first and only applicants to these jobs on employer websites.

Hound does not allow any advertisers, and our search results are influenced only by what employers tell us are available. We do not list recruiter jobs at all. We only list jobs direct from employer websites. Hound is pure job search.

No Advertising
There are no banner ads or pop-up advertising on Hound. The information you see is supported by your membership. Hound works for you to bring you unbiased information about jobs.

How You Deal With Problems Will Determine Quality of Your Life
A. Harrison Barnes  |  Dated: 01-05-2009

One of the things I have learned throughout the years is that anyone can be up when things are going well.  However, the real challenge is when things are not going well and there are problems.  All businesses and all relationships go through problems.  There is no such thing as an absence of problems.  How you deal with problems will determine the quality of your life more than any other single thing.  Far too few people know how to effectively deal with problems, and they end up having their lives sidetracked by these problems.  The more you delay dealing with problems the more they build up.  The more problems are allowed to build up the more difficult your life ends up becoming.

Last night my wife and I drove by a furniture store that is going out of business.  It was a beautiful furniture store and used to be the nicest furniture store in Pasadena, where our company’s main office is.  I went inside the furniture store and saw markdowns so extreme I could hardly believe my eyes.  Various pieces of furniture were marked down 90%.  This was extremely suprising; however, this was not the most surprising thing to me about this sale.  What was most surprising was that this sale had been going on for several weeks and the store still had an incredible amount of inventory. Pasadena’s economy is so bad that no one can be persuaded to spend money even when stuff is being given away for pennies on the dollar.  A couple of blocks away is the world headquarters of IndyMac, which was one of the largest bank failures in American history.  The bank collapsed just a few months ago.

Why Contacting Employers Directly Is the Best Way to Get a Job
Jobs from Commercial Job Boards VS Jobs Direct from Employer Career Pages

1. The Process
Employers who post jobs on job sites like Monster and Career Builder are inundated with applications. When employers put jobs on their own site, typically very few people know about them and they receive fewer applications. Hound allows its members to be the FIRST AND ONLY APPLICANTS to these jobs on employer websites.
2. The Cost
It cost employers often $500 or more to post jobs on commercial job boards like Monster. It is FREE for employers to post jobs on their site and thus more jobs make it onto employer websites than public job boards.
3. The Access
Recruiter jobs are not direct and once you apply, recruiters decide whether to submit or not submit you for the job. You apply DIRECTLY to employers through Hound. Hound does not allow any advertisers, and our search results are influenced only by what employers tell us are available. We do not list recruiter jobs at all. We only list jobs direct from employer websites. Hound is PURE JOB SEARCH.
4. The Potential
Recruiters also charge employers a "fee" to hire you. Thus candidates coming thru recruiters are more expensive for employers to hire and may result in not getting hired for the job. Since you DIRECTLY apply to employer websites through Hound, you have NO FEE attached and thus have a higher potential to be chosen as the candiate for the job.
